In this step-by-step PPF installation tutorial, I'm installing a precut paint protection film kit on the front bumper of a **2026 Lexus RX350h**. This Lexus bumper has some challenging areas, including deep recesses, large fingers, multiple cutouts, and tricky edges around the grille. Before starting the installation, I show how I use touch-up paint to repair a rock chip on the bumper. This creates an important challenge during the PPF installation. Once the film has been squeegeed into place, pulling it back up can remove the fresh touch-up paint. That means we need to get the film lined up and installed correctly the first time! Learn how to install PPF on a Harley-Davidson saddlebag using advanced stretching techniques, steam, wrapped edges, and custom-made templates. In this step-by-step paint protection film tutorial, I'll show you how to tackle a difficult motorcycle saddlebag installation from start to finish. We're back on the Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob with aftermarket FXRP-style bodywork. This time, we're installing paint protection film on the saddlebag, including the challenging lid, the main body of the bag, and a custom-cut upper section. We start with the saddlebag lid, which requires a substantial amount of stretch to get the PPF to conform to its shape. I'll demonstrate how I use a steam machine to warm the film, making it easier to stretch and helping reduce the likelihood of visible stretch marks. One of the most important parts of this installation is wrapping the PPF underneath the edges of the lid. With this much stretch, trimming the film directly at the top edge can allow the tension in the film to eventually cause the edges to lift. I'll explain why wrapping the edges is so important and show you how I accomplish it. Next, we move to the main section of the saddlebag. This area also requires considerable stretching, and I'll show you how I use steam to help position and install the film. Finally, we need to cover the upper section behind the lid. For this piece, I'll demonstrate how to make a custom template using transfer tape. We'll use that template to cut our PPF, then install the custom piece and create two seams where it meets the lower section of the saddlebag. How to Install Motorcycle PPF — Extreme Stretching on a Harley-Davidson Saddlebag
Learn how to stretch PPF to get enough extra film to wrap underneath the edges of a hood. In this tutorial, I'm installing a partial hood PPF kit on a 2026 Ford F-150 and showing the complete installation process. There's one problem with this particular kit—it wasn't cut with enough material to wrap over the hood edges and underneath. Rather than leaving the film at the edge, we're going to add some extra stretch during the installation to gain the material we need for a wrapped finish. Aside from the additional stretch, the fundamentals of the installation remain the same. I'll show you how I position the pattern, establish my tack points, stretch the PPF across the hood, and squeegee the film through the recessed areas. Once the main installation is complete, we'll use the extra material we gained from stretching to wrap the PPF underneath the hood. We'll finish by drying and heat sealing the wrapped edge. This is a good example of why understanding how and where to stretch PPF is important. Sometimes the pattern doesn't give you exactly what you want, and knowing how to manipulate the film can help you achieve a cleaner finished installation. Ford F-150 Hood PPF — Making a Non-Wrap Kit Wrap the Edges
This is an advanced PPF installation requiring a LOT of stretch. In this tutorial, I show how I use steam to soften the paint protection film, stretch it into deep recesses, and reduce the chance of leaving stretch marks. We're installing PPF on an aftermarket FXRP lower fairing on a Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob. This is definitely not a beginner PPF installation. The shape of this lower fairing requires a substantial amount of stretch to get the film into position and down into the recessed areas. One of the techniques I use during this installation is heating the PPF with a steam machine. The heat helps soften the film and allows it to stretch more easily while reducing the likelihood of leaving visible stretch marks. I'll take you through the complete installation, including our initial stretch, working the PPF into the upper recesses, stretching and squeegeeing the bottom section, trimming the edges, trimming around the mounting bolt, and cleaning up silvering before we're finished. This is a good tutorial for experienced PPF installers who want to see how I approach a difficult three-dimensional part where simply laying the film down isn't an option. How to Stretch PPF Without Leaving Stretch Marks
Learn how to install PPF on a Ford F-150 front bumper using a pre-cut CORE kit. In this step-by-step tutorial, I cover the stretching techniques and extensive edge wrapping needed to get these large bumper patterns installed cleanly. We're back on the 2026 Ford F-150, this time installing paint protection film on the front bumper and the painted bumper section directly above it. This CORE kit requires some interesting stretching to get the patterns positioned correctly. I'll show you how I stretch the film across the left, center, and right sides of the lower bumper before working everything down. One thing I really like about these patterns is the amount of material CORE gives us for wrapping. The PPF wraps over the top and bottom edges of the bumper pieces as well as deep into the wheel wells, helping us achieve a clean finished installation with fewer exposed edges. After completing the lower bumper, we move on to the second section above it. I'll show the stretching and squeegeeing process before wrapping the bottom edge and finishing everything with a thorough heat seal. We also run into an air pocket near the end of the installation, so I'll show you how I use a syringe to remove it without having to lift the PPF.
