In this PPF tutorial we're working on the rear hatch below the window of a 2026 Tesla Model Y. This area requires a huge amount of stretch to get the coverage we need while still being able to wrap and trim all of the edges cleanly. Because we're installing matte/stealth PPF, edge coverage is even more important than normal. Any exposed gloss paint will stand out against the matte finish, so we focus heavily on stretching the film correctly, wrapping the edges, and trimming everything cleanly. Matte PPF Tesla Model Y Rear Hatch Install - Full Coverage Tutorial
In this PPF short I’m working on a full hood install on a Chevy Silverado. After the 4 corner tack, we’re dealing with deep recesses that trap air under the paint protection film. Before we can move on and start squeegeeing, I use a technique I call “burping the air out” to release the trapped air and help the film lay down properly. Little techniques like this can make a huge difference on difficult full hood PPF installs with deep recessed areas. BURPING AIR OUT OF PPF
Rinse Then Wrap The Edge Working on the Lexus RX550 bumper and wrapping the PPF edges cleanly with a squeegee. Before wrapping the edge, I rinse out the soapy slip solution with straight water. This helps reduce contamination and lets the edge tack down better before we finish wrapping it around the panel. Small details like this can make a big difference in how clean and durable the finished install looks. Snail Trails In PPF 🐌😬 Working on the Lexus RX550 bumper and talking about “snail trails” in paint protection film. When water gets trapped under the PPF and starts drying, pushing that water bubble out can sometimes distort the adhesive underneath the film. Those small adhesive distortions are what installers call a “snail trail.” In this short I explain what causes it and why you want to be careful when working out older drying water bubbles under the material. Snail Trails In PPF 🐌😬
In this PPF tutorial, we’re back on the 2026 Ford Bronco installing matte / stealth paint protection film on the hood. When doing a matte conversion, coverage and edge work are everything—you don’t want any gloss showing. We start by locking in 6 tack points to control the film, then move into the rear hood recesses before stretching the front edge to ensure proper overhang for clean edge wrapping. From there, we squeegee out the entire hood, deal with real-world issues like debris under the film, and finish by locking everything down and heat sealing all edges for long-term durability. This is the full process from start to finish, including problem-solving along the way. Too Much Pressure = Stretched PPF 😬 Installing PPF on this Lexus RX550 bumper and talking about something newer installers run into all the time… too much squeegee pressure. Some films are more grabby on the squeegee, and if you push too hard you can unintentionally stretch the material while you’re squeegeeing it down. During this bulk PPF install on a 2026 Chevy Silverado hood, I ran into air pockets starting to dry inside a recess. If those dry out before you squeegee them, you can end up trapping air under the paint protection film. In this short, I show how I push moisture back into the recess first so the air pockets release cleanly before squeegeeing everything out. In this video, I walk you through a full front bumper PPF installation on a 2026 Lexus RX500h (same body style 2023–current). This install is done using a CORE-cut kit, and I’m also trying out a new film—Road Guard by Autobahn. I share a few thoughts on the film’s clarity during the install, but the main focus is breaking down the full bumper process step by step. In this PPF tutorial, we continue working on this 2026 Ford Bronco Badlands—this time installing matte paint protection film on the front grill. What makes this one different is that we’re installing matte PPF over factory matte paint. That means every move matters. You don’t have gloss to hide anything, and the finish has to stay consistent across the entire panel. We’re using Autobahn Matte PPF, and the pattern is cut using CORE software. I’ll walk you through how I approach this install, including working around headlights, handling seams, and making sure everything lays down clean without distorting the matte finish.
